Ukoback (sometimes referred to as Gremlin in North American releases) is an enemy in the Castlevania series. It is a demon who keeps the cauldrons of Hell lit.

Origins[]

Ukobach (or Urobach) is described in the Dictionnaire Infernal Jacques Collin de Plancy, 1818) as a "demon of an inferior order", depicted with a flaming or red body, large eyes and ears and often a pan full of coals or a hot poker. He is said to be the inventor of fireworks and the art of frying foods. He's a subordinate of Beelzebub and is in charge of maintaining the oil in the infernal boilers, which is made of the blood of the damned.

Description[]

He appears to be walking on air and sets various areas of the room on fire. This fire stays in the place it was lit and will cause damage if touched, but will dissipate after a short while or if attacked. Soma Cruz can use his soul in both Sorrow games to similarly create small fires in the room to damage enemies.
