The Undead Parasite is a boss in Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. It is an undead infested by parasites from working on constructing the filthy Great Shrine.
Description[]
A huge and invincible tapeworm-like monster that slithers at great speed along the innermost chamber of the House of Sacred Remains, which happens to be completely made of living tissue, resembling more the insides of a living organism. Apart from its speed and massive corpulence, the creature can also breathe a stream of fire that covers almost half of the room. There are four openings along the walls that serve as passageways for the creature to enter and exit the room. There are also four eyes in the room arranged in a square-like formation, which act as the boss's initial weak points. Once all of them have been disposed of, a tumorous-like core will emerge from the opening at the center of the room, which is the boss's main weak point. If not destroyed in time, the core will submerge again and reappear in any of the other four holes left by the eyes. The boss is also aided by an infinite but weak horde of Soulless zombie-like humanoids that will constantly emerge from the ground and attack the player.
Strategy[]
It is recommended to bring the Holy Water sub-weapon to this fight, as it deals continuous damage in a confined area and all the enemies that comprise this boss battle are weak to it. The player must first destroy the four eyes located on each corner of the room while also trying to avoid contact with the giant worm-like creature. Several holes along the walls of the room will serve as passageways for the worm, and this can damage the player simply by making physical contact with them as it moves around, or by breathing fire in an arc, covering almost half of the room. The creature is completely impervious to attack, so concentrating on destroying the four eyes should be given priority instead.
After the four eyes have been destroyed, a tumor-like core will appear at the center of the room (along with the boss's HP bar); likewise, the player should attack it with Holy Water as much as possible before it disappears and randomly reappears at one of the four holes left by the eyes. In addition to the worm, hordes of Soulless enemies will continuously spawn from the ground. While they can immediately attack the player by the time they appear, they also have little health and can be disposed of with ease, serving more as a distraction during the encounter.
Once the core has run out of health, all enemies in the room, including the worm, will be destroyed. The Blue Orb and a portal to Rinaldo's shop will then appear.

Notes[]
- This particular boss has its own musical theme, aptly titled Bizarre Room.
Trivia[]
- The mechanics and strategy required for defeating this boss are similar to the second form of Chaos in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, which involve destroying four eyes at the corner of the room in order to expose the vulnerable core, while being attacked by a snake-like monster. The only difference is that additional monsters spawn from the ground in Lament of Innocence.
- After defeating a boss, if the player returns to the Undead Parasite's room, it will revert back to normal, resembling most of the other rooms in the stage.
- Dwelling in the colon-like passages and implied to feed off the visceral environment of the Great Shrine, the Undead Parasite resembles and functionally serves as a massive tapeworm.
- Like its mundane real-life counterpart, the creature possesses a hooked scolex (head) with a long, segmented body trailing behind.
