The Uta Lower Road (ユタの地下道 Yuta no Chikadō - Underground Path of Yuta?), also called Yuta's Path in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, is a location in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It is a path that descends across a river (possibly at a waterfall), and then below the Borgia Mountains heading left, that takes the player from the Wicked Ditch to the Devious Woods.

Overview[]

To reach the Uta Lower Road from the Wicked Ditch, when coming across an "impassable" river, the player needs to use the Red Crystal in that same manner that the Blue Crystal was used at Yuba Lake, that is, kneel down at the bank. A path beneath the water will be revealed and can then be taken. Once the player crosses the river, they'll be at a large underground area. A cove is found on the bottom central part, where a traveling Gypsy dwells; if Simon Belmont is in possession of the Morning Star, she will transform it into the Flame Whip, the most powerful whip in the game. The upper area of the cave doesn't have anything relevant. Exiting through the left path leads to the Devious Woods.

Super Castlevania IV[]

Main article: Super Castlevania IV Stage 3

The path taken in Super Castlevania IV to Dracula's Castle generally aligns with the optimal path that can be taken in Simon's Quest to the castle. The Uta Lower Road corresponds with the caves and the waterfalls in the third stage.

References[]

  1. If the player is in possession of the Morning Star, the Gypsy found in this area will upgrade it to the Flame Whip, the most powerful whip in the game.
